Holiday Villa, Cherating

Sea view after sunset

Few months back, Raymond had planned for a memorable trip for my birthday. After surveying and discussing, we decided to go Cherating and Colmar Tropical, Bukit Tinggi.

Journey to the east

It was a long drive from home. It took us 4 hours to reach our first destination, which was at Holiday Villa Resort. Luckily, we started our journey in the morning, and we didn't feel tired nor exhausted at all.

After arriving at the reception, we showed them our identification to check-in. Last month when I called for room booking, I told them I wanted Garden Villa, which was RM250, and they said that it was still available on that date; but on that specific day, they apologized and told us that the booking was full, and they upgraded us to their Anniversary Suite (which was RM550) without paying extra.

At first I was quite disappointed, because I really admire the room that we'd booked, but as we entered the upgraded room, I was so delighted and felt that it was worth the price. After knowing that Garden Villa was actually a chalet, and it was attached to another chalet, we felt that we were so lucky that we had this suite.

This was the building where our suite was located

It looked like a 1-bedroom apartment, but this one was a lot more spacious and more privacy. We can view both front and back view.

After a short rest, we went out to have a look at other hotels and resorts, and also their beach. Some looked normal, but most looked beautiful. But still, I preferred the one we stayed as it was more quiet and relaxing, a place where you can really forget everything and enjoy your holiday.

When we got back to Holiday Villa, it was almost dinner time. We went down to their Beach Restaurant.

While waiting for our food, we enjoyed watching people playing beach ball

Usually in Malaysia, the non-high-class or cheap food are always a lot more tastier than the ones in the hotel or resort. This resort, the food were expensive, even the drinks were too expensive... but what can you expect from a hotel or resort? We didn't even expect it to be delicious too, but we were wrong.

Clockwise from top-left: Vegetables pizza, Banana Split, Chicken Picatta with Pasta

Raymond was not a fan of vegetables, but vegetables pizza was one of the cheapest there, that was why he ordered it. He had finished the whole pizza (Well, I did tried a slice or two =P), and guess what, this was the first time he really enjoyed vegetables and until now, he misses his vegetables pizza.

And for Chicken Picatta, it looked like a normal bolognaise pasta with 2 pieces of chicken breasts. Usually you don't get any taste from chicken breast, and it will be hard to chew too. But this was totally different, not only that it tasted delicious, but also easier to chew on, and the meat didn't get stuck in between your teeth easily!

This was one of the best hotel food we'd ever tasted! I would rate 4.5 upon 5 (if only they were a little cheaper, I might give full rating points =P).

After dinner, we went for a walk along the beach.

Found this around the beach. Looked pretty.

The day was getting dark, we headed back into our suite, and Raymond had a special surprise for me, which made me even more happy on that day!

A rose bouquet from Raymond. The first bouquet he gave me after years of relationship. He was never a romantic man, but this year, he really gave me the most memorable birthday in my life!

The next day, we were so excited to have our breakfast at the same restaurant. They had some cook who cooked on the spot and we had warm food all the time.

Before going off, we went round at Eastern Pavilion (which was just right beside our resort) and the resort again. We really love this place, but it was time for us to head to the next destination, Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi.

For those who wants to travel to Cherating, I would recommend this hotel. The place was great, the people are friendly, good services and good food too!
