Piai Cape and Kukup Island

On Monday, after i made myself breakfast, my father asked me whether I have any plans for holiday. Knowing that I didn't have any, he suggested that maybe we should go for a trip to Kukup Island in Johor Bahru.

With a sudden plan, we left home quite late. We stopped at Aunt Luciana, my grandaunt's place at Seri Alam, Johor Bahru for that night because it was too late to travel, and we don't know where it was exactly.

The next day (Tuesday), after Joanne got back from work, we headed off to Kukup Island.

It was a long drive from Aunt Luciana's place. On the way, besides Kukup was in a brown sign board (board shows that it is a tourism area), we noticed Piai was in brown too. At first we thought of having a night in a hotel or homestay (bed and breakfast) somewhere near Kukup Island, because the chalet needs at least 10pax, and we have only 5, but since Piai was along the way, we planned to stay there for a night.

Mum - waiting for food. Had our dinner before we check-in.

It took us some time to get to the resort because it was late and dark. Upon our arrival, we saw many people fishing on the bridge and deck. Piai Cape is more likely a fishing resort, it was a nice place to fish and enjoy the sea breeze.

After we took our luggage and check-in to our chalet, we notice that this chalet was made like a small hotel, unlike other chalet which is usually a building with a room or two, but this chalet has 3 floors, and around 6-8 rooms per floor.

To be honest, the maintainance and management was very bad. The first thing we didn't like when we entered the room was, the water leaking from the top near the doorway. The walls are not painted properly, the sink in the toilet is shaking and no tissue rolls. In their brochure, it was listed that kettle and iron are provided, but we got none of these. It seemed that we have to ask from them, but since we were going to stay there, aren't they suppose to pass these things to us without us asking instead of we complaining or telling them that the things were not there and we didn't steal them? Very very very bad maintainance and management. But we were too tired that night and didn't want to complain, because the reception is quite a distance from the chalet. The only thing we like about the chalet was the sea-view.

Sea view at night, can't really see anything because it was dark.

The next morning, Joanne and I were so anxious to see the sun rise, but guess what, the clouds covered it, so sad. *sob*

Can you find the sun?

The bridge and deck, there's some mist there.

After the mist was cleared, this is how it looked

All of us got ourselves ready, and went to the bridge to take some photos as remembrance.

After some photo taking, we went for breakfast, which they called it buffet. And guess what do they have for buffet? Only 3 things.... Fried rice, fish crackers and tea. Stupid, huh? Luckily the rice was good, and we took lots of fish crackers.

I can say that Piai Cape is really a nice place to visit, but not a good place to stay in. Not even close to normal.

After check-out, we headed to Kukup Island. A village on the sea, majority Chinese. Went for a walk down there.

This is how their valley looks like, and guess what,
they even have coffee shops, entertainments and clinic too~

More chalets under construction

Can you spot the fish?

After a long walk, we headed back to Aunt Luciana's place, rested for a while, and then head back home to Malacca. A tiring day, but fun.
