Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in the world
She's my doctor, and I'm her patient;
She's my teacher, and I'm her student;
She's my cook, and I'm her taster;
She's my tailor, and I'm her manikin;
She's my everything, and I'm nothing to compare;
She's my guardian, and I'm her angel (the rascal one =P);
And the most wonderful thing of all that God created,
She's my mother, and I'm her daughter~
Happy Mother's Day, mum~ I love you~
The moment when we're getting ready, her mum called and said that her bro was waiting outside, and all of them were going out for mother's day dinner. Claire went back disappointedly of course because she really wanted to make a surprise for her mum.
At first I didn't think of baking, then I was thinking since I had already went through with the baking book and YouTube, why not give it a try, right?
Let's have a look at the recipe.
Chocolate Cake Recipe from YouTube:
2 cups sugar (I used 1½ cup and it turned out just fine)
1¾ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup cocoa powder
1½ tsp baking powder
1½ tsp baking soda (I didn't used it)
a pinch of salt
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
½ cup oil
2 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup hot water/hot coffee
1. Preheat the oven 170°C/350°F. Grease and sprinkle some flour into cake tin.
2. Mix all dry ingredients like sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a mixing bowl.
3. Add in eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Mix well. (I used the beater instead of wooden spoon)
4. Add in hot water/coffee little by little and mix well, not too watery.
5. Pour chocolate mixture into cake tin. Bake it for around 30-40 minutes.
(The best is to use a fork/knife/toothpick/skewer to poke the cake. If chocolate stick on it, that means you still need to bake it. If it's clean, then you can turn off your oven and cool it)
6. Remove cake from tin, leave it and cool it on a cooling rack for 2 hours.

Chocolate Icing from The Best Of Baking by Hamlyn:
125g chocolate (cooking chocolate will be better)
150g icing sugar (sift)
15g butter
1 tbsp water (I used more than that depending on my icing)
1. Double-boil chocolate until it melt, stirring continuously.
2. Add the sifted icing sugar, water and butter and stir until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
3. Remove from heat and continue stirring until the icing reaches the correct consistency.
4. Layer the icing on cake with a spatula or something flat.
(Don't take too long to layer the cake as the chocolate icing will become thicker and thicker.)

Well, you can just eat the cake like this, but as for me, I wanted to learn how to decorate with icing, and since my mum was too free to teach me, I decided to decorate the cake.
Butter Cream Icing:
150g icing sugar
60g of butter
Beat the butter with the beater, then add in icing sugar and beat until it becomes soft. If you want your icing to be thicker, add more icing sugar. Then decorate it with the piping and viola~
Don't mind how it looks like because I'm not a profession in decorating cakes, but I'm quite happy with my result. Will make it better the next time.
